Volunteer at ANE

VOLUNTEERING DETAILS.

Anthro New England is only possible thanks to our dedicated volunteers. Thank you for taking time to see what volunteering is all about! Volunteers are the core of Anthro New England – without you, much of our event would not be possible.

You have great skills and we appreciate being able to put them to good use! Keep in mind Anthro New England may need your help in a variety of departments and we appreciate your flexibility. Most volunteers work between 4 and 20 hours during the weekend, but the number of hours you work is completely up to you – there are more rewards the more hours you work!

Anthro New England volunteers are rewarded with the following perks:

You will receive credit hours for each hour you volunteer, which can be spent on rewards for t-shirts or stickers, or banked for a registration for next year! Every volunteer will also receive a volunteer lanyard (While supplies last).

Rewards for Volunteers at ANE 2025:

  • 2026 Registration – 15 Credits
  • 2026 Sponsor Registration – 25 Credits
  • 2025 T-shirt – 6 Credits
  • Prior year T-shirt- 4 Credits
  • Sticker pack from the con store- 2 Credits

Hours do not need to be done consecutively and can be split up into shifts; they will be tracked throughout the convention.

Our volunteer needs include:

Game Room Volunteer
Support game room staff with board game rentals and creating a safe and friendly space for video and board gaming.

Vendor Hall Volunteer
Provide support for vendors and attendees, including running water to vendors and providing information regarding the vendor hall.

Badge Check
Check that attendees have a badge before entering a convention area. This position can be done while seated and with limited movement.

Line Control
Support safety staff in keeping lines orderly and moving smoothly.

Safety Staff Volunteer
Supplement security patrols and provide as needed coverage for safety staff.

A/V Volunteer
Assist A/V staff with setup and take down of A/V equipment in event space. Theater tech or similar experience is preferred.

Registration Volunteer
Support registration staff by resupplying and restocking registration materials, and providing additional support for line management during peak registration hours.

Volunteer Runner
Support the volunteer department by checking on volunteers out in the con space and relieving them for bathroom/water breaks, and be on standby for any unexpected volunteer needs.

Miscellaneous/As-Needed
Help will be needed throughout the con for some event specific tasks, such as the crowd control for the fursuit parade and night market, or logistics for the charity auction.

Set-Up/Break-Down (Pre & Post Con)
Help unload the truck of convention equipment before the con, and pack it up at the end of the con. Also, help will be needed getting equipment in and out of storage, off site from the convention. This is a great opportunity to get volunteer credits outside of main convention hours, and as a critically important position will be rewarded increased credit hours. This position is labor intensive and requires the ability to move heavy objects.

Set-up and break-down will also be needed for a few specific departments in addition to general set-up/break-down

Events Volunteer
Help with setup and breakdown of major con events, like concerts and fursuit games. You will be expected to arrive before the event in question, stay during the event, and breakdown right afterwards.
